Bed Bug Control

WIN The Battle Against Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are a unique pest.  They are easily one of the hardest pests to overcome for both the homeowner and pest professional.  Bed bugs are small in size; comparable to the size of an apple seed and are very good at hiding. You may not even realize you have them until the infestation is well established.  Bed bugs feed on blood as their only source for nutrition.

Our Professional Bed Bug Control

The first step when dealing with the possibility of bed bugs is to have a proper inspection by a licensed pest professional.  Bed bugs are sneaky pests and are very good at hiding in small cracks and crevices.  Key signs may be easily overlooked by an untrained eye.  Once bed bugs have been identified our technician will create a custom treatment plan that will be most effective for your unique situation.

Bed Bug Treatment Process

Our bed bug treatments are very thorough and often will require more than one visit, on average about 3-4 treatments to ensure success.  Your technician will also perform a specific crack and crevice treatment, which will target bed bugs hiding in those hard to see areas.  Depending on the location and size of the infestation, a dust may be applied to outlet areas or void spaces that bed bugs may be lurking in.

Because bed bugs are such prolific breeders follow up treatments are absolutely necessary to ensure all bed bugs, in any life-cycle stage, are totally eliminated.  Before treatment begins we will send a “To-do/Checklist” for customers to complete.  This completed checklist will help ensure the treatment is a success.

If you have any questions or concerns about your bed bug treatment, you can call our office before treatment or your pest technician can answer any questions you may have.

How did I get bed bugs?

Honestly, you could have encountered bed bugs from a number of places.  Bed bugs love to travel and are great at being sneaky hitchhikers, they do not discriminate against anyone.  Common public possible areas are hotels, airplanes, hospitals, assisted living facilities, libraries, subways, dorm rooms, summer camps to name a few.  It can be difficult to pinpoint exactly where the encounter began.

Will DIY remedies work the same?

Unfortunately, products you can buy over the counter will not rid your home of bed bugs.  Over the years bed bugs have developed an extremely high resistance to many pesticides.  This is one of the reasons bed bugs are difficult to treat.  The OTC products may kill the bed bugs you can see out in the open but are not capable of eliminating their eggs.  In fact, using these OTC products will likely create a scatter effect and cause bed bugs to move to different areas throughout the home, which will only make elimination more difficult.  It’s best to leave bed bug treatment to the professionals that have the knowledge and understanding of the precise timing of treatments.
